When flying domestically with Alaska Airline, you'll always fly comfortably, no matter which cabin class you choose. The airline offers a selection of cabin class seating for passengers to choose from:


Economy

Economy Class seats are what the airline refers to as it's 'Main Cabin'. Main Cabin passengers can enjoy a full food and drinks menu (fees apply), with meals available to order up to 12 hours before take-off. Passengers can connect to onboard WIFI and connect to Alaska Airlines' inflight entertainment system.


Premium Economy

Alaska's Premium Economy class, known as 'Premium Class', gives passengers everything that Main Cabin offers, but with added extras. Enjoy a complimentary drink and complimentary snack. Premium Class also offers premium boarding and seating.

Business

Alaska doesn't have Business Class; if you'd like to upgrade from Premium, we suggest Alaska Airlines' First Class.


First

First Class is the airline's most luxurious cabin class. First Class seats are much larger and more comfortable than the ones in the Main Cabin and Premium Class. Each passenger is also given a soft quilted blanket and free entertainment tablet for the duration of the flight. Before departure, guests can also relax in the airline's exclusive airport lounge, available depending on the airport.

How to check-in

When flying with Alaska Airlines you can check in online, at a check-in kiosk at the airport or at a full-service check-in counter at the airport.


Online

You can check-in online for your Alaska Airlines flight from 24 hours to 1 hour before the scheduled departure time.


Airport

If you're unable to check in online, you can also check-in at the airport using a self-service kiosk or by arriving at the check-in counter.


Arrival time

The airline advises passengers to arrive at the airport at least 2 hours before your scheduled departure for domestic flights.

Baggage rules for domestic Alaska flights

Carry-on baggage

Alaska Airlines allows passengers to bring 1 carry-on bag, plus 1 personal item. The carry-on bag must not exceed dimensions of 55cm x 36cm x 23cm (22in x 14in x 9in). The following items would be accepted as a personal small item: a purse or small handbag, umbrella, laptop bag, camera bag.


Checked baggage

For checked luggage, Alaska Airlines charges each an additional fee for the first and second bag, which increases for an additional third bag. Checked baggage dimensions must not exceed 157cm/62in (length + width + height) and a weight of 23kg/51lbs.

Do you need a passport for Alaska Airlines domestic flights?

If you are a US citizen and flying domestically within the US, without leaving the borders of the United States, you do not need a passport to travel. You will need to present a valid government-issued photo ID that displays your personal details, including your date of birth and name, such as a Drivers Licence, Military ID Card, or State ID Card.   

If you're a non-US citizen you will need a passport in order to fly domestically within the US.

How early should I arrive for Alaska Airlines domestic flights?

The airline recommends that you arrive at the airport no later then 2 hours prior to your scheduled flight departure time. You must arrive at the airport before the check-in cut off time, which is 40 minutes prior to scheduled departure for domestic flights. For some airports, it is 45 minutes prior to departure. We recommend that you arrive as early as possible.

Are meals available on Alaska Airlines domestic flights?

Yes, light snacks, meals and hot/cold drinks are available on all Alaska Airlines flights. Whether your meal is complimentary and included in the price of your ticket will depend on your cabin class. For passengers travelling in the Main Cabin or Premium, meals can be pre-ordered for a fee. For First Class passengers, meals are included.

What other airlines offer domestic flights in Alaska and the USA?
