Online Check-In

Click on the logo of the airline that you’re flying on and complete online check-in

Check-in Online

Please note: Not every airline provides online check-in and this page doesn’t include the check-in link for every airline offered through Alternative Airlines.

If the airline that you’re flying on does offer online check-in but is not featured on this page, we will still provide a check-in link on your e-ticket.

How does online check-in work?

1. Check the airline’s rules

Not all airlines offer online check-in. If it’s available, your e-ticket will usually include a link. Each airline sets its own check-in window. Some close it up to 24 hours before departure. Miss the deadline and you might need to pay a check-in fee at the airport.

2. Check in online

Go to the airline’s website or app. You’ll need your booking reference and travel documents. Follow the steps to confirm your details and choose your seat.

3. Get your boarding pass

Once checked in, you can:

  • Download your pass to your phone
  • Print it at home
  • Collect it at the airport

Some airlines charge to reprint a boarding pass, so it’s best to keep a backup.

4. Drop bags or head to security

If you’ve got checked luggage, drop it at the bag drop. If you’re travelling hand-luggage only, go straight to security. Keep your boarding pass ready.

🧠 Tip: If your phone dies or you lose your pass, visit the check-in desk, but be prepared - some airlines charge for reprints.

Why check-in online?

Checking in at the airport used to mean long queues and added stress. These days, most airlines let you check in online, whether you’re at home, at work or on the move. At Alternative Airlines, we always recommend checking in online when you can. Here's why it makes flying smoother:

  1. Save money - Some airlines now charge a fee if you check in at the airport. Online check-in is usually free and could even unlock savings on baggage or extras.
  2. Skip the queues - Check in before you leave and head straight to bag drop or security when you arrive. It means less waiting around and more time to relax before your flight.
  3. Reduce stress - You can confirm your seat, get your boarding pass and feel prepared, all before you set foot in the airport.
  4. Choose your seat early - Prefer the window? Extra legroom? Sitting with your partner or family? Online check-in lets you pick your spot before others do.

You can check in using your computer, phone or tablet. It’s quick, simple and one of the easiest ways to start your journey right.

Frequently asked questions

What is online check-in and how does it work?

Online check-in is a way to confirm your flight booking and get your boarding pass before you arrive at the airport.

Depending on the airline, you can usually check in through their website or app, starting 24 to 48 hours before departure. You’ll need your booking reference, surname and sometimes your passport details.

Why should I check in online instead of at the airport?

Online check-in helps you save time, avoid queues and secure your seat early. Some airlines even charge extra if you check in at the airport. It’s also a useful way to double-check your travel plan before you go.

When does online check-in open for airlines?

Each airline sets its own check-in window. Most open 24 to 48 hours before departure and close 1 to 3 hours before take-off.

You can find specific times for your airline via our airline-specific pages, where we also provide information on your airline's baggage allowance, cabin classes and more.

What do I need to check in online?

You’ll need your booking reference (also called a PNR or confirmation code), your surname as it appears on the ticket, and sometimes your travel document information.

This is unlikely, but some airlines may also ask you to enter baggage details or confirm your COVID-19 travel forms.

Can I choose my seat during online check-in?

Yes, most airlines let you select your seat when checking in online. Some let you pick for free, while others may charge depending on the seat type, like extra legroom or window seats.

It's your chance to sit where you want, whether that’s next to your travel companion or near the front of the plane.

What if I’m travelling with bags - can I still check in online?

Absolutely! You can check in online and then drop your bags at the airline’s bag drop counter when you get to the airport. It’s often faster than checking in and dropping your bags at the same time.

What happens if I forget to check in online?

If you miss the online check-in window, you can still check in at the airport. Just be aware that some low-cost airlines charge for this. It’s best to check in online ahead of time to avoid extra fees or delays.

Can I check in online for flights booked through Alternative Airlines?

Yes! Once you’ve booked your flight with us, you’ll receive your booking reference and all the details you need. When online check-in opens for your airline, you can follow the link from your confirmation email.

Do I need to print my boarding pass if I check in online?

Not always. Many airlines now accept mobile boarding passes - just make sure your phone is charged and your pass is accessible. If the airline requires a printed copy, they’ll let you know during check-in.

Can I check in online if I’m flying with multiple airlines or on a shared flight?

In most cases, yes, but it depends on the airlines involved. If your flight is operated by one airline but booked through another (a shared flight), you’ll need to check in with the airline operating the flight. Our team can help guide you if you're unsure which one that is.
