Berniq Airways baggage allowance
Baggage allowances on Berniq Airways flights vary by ticket type and fare class. Here's what you can generally expect:
Carry-on baggage
- 1 cabin bag per passenger
- Weight limit: up to 7kg (15 lbs)
Checked baggage
- Economy fares: Usually 1 checked bag up to 23kg, or a total allowance of 20kg
- Premium fares or promotional tickets: May include 2 pieces at 23kg each, or a combined 40kg total
What you need to know
- Check your ticket: Your exact baggage allowance is shown on your booking confirmation
- Piece vs weight: Some fares include a per-piece limit, others allow a total weight to be spread across bags
- Extra baggage: Fees apply if you exceed your allowance, so it’s worth checking your fare rules before you travel
Berniq Airways check-in
Berniq Airways does not currently offer online check-in, so all passengers must check in at the airport.
Airport check-in tips:
- Arrive at least 2 hours before your flight’s scheduled departure
- Make sure to bring your passport and travel documents
- Allow extra time during busy periods, especially for international flights
Airport check-in desks will close ahead of departure, and late passengers may be denied boarding, so arriving early is key.

Benina International Airport is the main base for Berniq Airways. Located just outside Benghazi, it handles most of the airline’s domestic and international departures. The airport has recently seen growth in international connectivity, with Berniq launching routes to Cairo, Dubai, Istanbul and beyond.
Mitiga International Airport (MJI), Tripoli
While Tripoli’s main airport (Tripoli International) remains under redevelopment, Mitiga International Airport serves as the city’s active commercial hub. Berniq Airways operates flights from Mitiga to destinations like Cairo and Alexandria.
These two airports allow Berniq Airways to connect Libya with key cities across North Africa, the Middle East and the wider region.
Fleet
As of 2026, Berniq Airways operates a fleet of 7 Airbus A320 aircraft, offering short- and medium-haul connectivity across its growing network.
In a major step forward, the airline placed a firm order for six brand-new Airbus A320neo Family aircraft in July 2024. This makes Berniq the first airline in Libya to order next-generation A320neo aircraft, known for better fuel efficiency and lower emissions.
With this investment, Berniq Airways is preparing to expand its route network and modernise its operations.
