BDL is owned and operated by the Connecticut Airport Authority and is the second-largest airport in the New England area. In fact, the airport was originally branded as the "Gateway to New England", and is home to the New England Air Museum.

    By Train

    The closest station to Bradley International Airport is in Windsor Locks, three miles away. The Amtrak and Hartford Line trains serve nearby Windsor Locks and Windsor stations. With 17 trains a day between New Haven and Hartford, the Hartford Line quickly and easily connects passengers to New Haven Line service to New York City.


    By Bus

    Connecticut Transit Route 34 provides a local service which connects Bradley with Windsor and Hartford. Route 30 provides an express service from the airport to downtown Hartford. This is a great low-cost option, $1.75 approx. Trips operate approximately hourly between downtown Hartford and the airport, seven days a week.

    Facilities include:

    • Eating and Shopping: Both before and after security there is a variety of eating and dining options. Pick-up duty free gifts and enjoy sit-down eateries, take-out meals, snacks, and coffee shops. 'International Shoppes', the airport's duty free shop, is located near Gate 8.
    • ATMs: There are six ATM machines provided by Webster located within Terminal A. Passengers will find an ATM machine located on the baggage claim floor as well as the ticketing floor level, as well as four ATM machines located within the concourse, post-security.
    • Mother's Nursing Lounge: The Mother’s Nursing Lounge is located post security and offers a comfortable space for nursing mothers, with comfortable seating, a sink, a fold-down changing table and a power outlet.
    • Pets: Only service animals are allowed in the terminal building without a kennel. With the exception of the Escape Lounge and Pet Relief areas, pets are allowed throughout the entire Airport, but must remain in their kennel. Outdoor relief areas are located on the lower level, at both ends of the terminal building.

    BDL has three asphalt runways: 6/24 is 9,510 by 200 feet (2,899 × 61 m); 15/33 is 6,847 by 150 feet (2,087 × 46 m); 1/19 is 4,269 by 100 feet (1,301 × 30 m).

    The airport has one main terminal building, from which two concourses can be accessed: East Concourse and West Concourse.

    East Concourse has 12 gates (1-12) and houses Aer Lingus, Air Canada, Delta, JetBlue and Southwest. West Concourse has 10 gates (20-30) and houses American, Frontier, Spirit and United.
